Belmonte Middle School has 710 students in grades 6, 7 and 8. Currently we have 53 teachers. In each grade there are two teams that consist of 4 teachers, 1 in each of the following areas: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. For the 2008-2009 school year, students are offered Encore classes as follows.

Grade Six: Physical Education, Developmental Reading, Computers, Music, and Drama.
Grade Seven: Physical Education, MCAS math, Drama, Art and Wellness.
Grade Eight: Technology Education, Physcial Education, MCAS math, Wellness, Art, Computers.

Each student is assigned a guidance counselor, who will remain assigned to that student throughout his or her middle school career. Our marking terms are quarterly and parent conferences occur in November, February and April. The school day begins at 7:45 a.m. The late bell rings at 7:55 a.m. Students must be seated in class by 7:55. Homework is given regularly and it is very important that all homework is completed. At the start of the school year students are issued an agenda book. All assignments should be written in the agenda book, and school rules and information are listed at the beginning of the book. All students also have a locker. Only school issued locks may be used on our lockers.

Our parent volunteers are a valuable resource to the Belmonte Community. The Parent Advisory Board meets monthly. See the school calendar for dates and times. Additionally, communication with parents is sometimes made easy by use of the ConnectEd phone system. This allows the principal to call all families with general messages and important information.

"The Belmonte Saugus Middle School will advance the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of all its students while servicing each individual's immediate needs within an environment that promotes success for all students. Technology, hands-on activities, and interdisciplinary instruction will enhance teaching and learning. Curriculum development will be an ongoing process geared to the needs of the children in accordance with state-mandated standards.
Faculty, students, families and the community will be actively involved in the educational process to create a safe, supportive environment where students are motivated to earn and believe that success is attainable. Everyone will honor and respect the difference and uniqueness of each individual while developing a sense of responsibility toward themselves, their school community, and the community at large.
Belmonte Middle School will be a school where both students an faculty come together as a community of life-long learners. Students will learn how to learn. They will leave middle school with the knowledge and tools necessary to confidently meet the challenges of high school and beyond."
