Chorus
Class
Chorus Class meets one period a
day and consists of both male and female students
who perform four part music from a wide variety
of musical styles and genres. Performances may
include, but are not limited to school assemblies,
civic/community programs, annual winter concert,
continuum concert and spring concert. Additional
performance opportunities may include exchange
concerts, festivals and adjudication. There is
a mandatory one after school rehearsal per week.
Members are encouraged to participate in smaller
select ensembles (as available.) Neither the ability
to read music or previous vocal/choral experience
is required for membership.
After school chorus
This general chorus is in addition to the chorus
class and meets every Wednesday from 2:30-4:00.
Fine Arts activity fee applies. Students are given
the same opportunities as students in the chorus
class.
Performing
Arts
This course is designed to give
students acting experience meets one period a
day. Actor training includes warm up techniques
for both the body and the voice, study of characterization,
motivation, concentration, and relaxation. Acting
experience will include improvisations, dramatic
readings and memorized scenes and monologues.
Students will attend and create performances outside
of the school setting. Students also work on all
technical aspects of a production, from set to
lighting, designing and building as well as reading
a variety of theater texts.
Advanced
Performing Arts
This course is a continuation of
Performing Arts and meets daily. Intensive training
in voice, characterization, motivation, concentration
and relaxation for the actor is explored. Acting
experience includes extensive work in monologue,
scene work, script writing and directing. Student
will attend and create various performances outside
of the school setting.
Drama
Club
This extra- curricular club produces
a fall play, a winter student directed festival
and a spring musical. Students may work on any
and all productions as they choose. Club meetings
are held every other week to discuss club activities
and events. Each production has its' own rehearsal
schedule and students contribute both on stage
and off in a variety of roles. Performances are
held outside of the school setting.
Within the Drama Club is an Improvisational Troupe,
"Needs Improvment". This group of actors
works throughout the summer in preparation for
fall performances. Auditions for the improvisational
troupe are held in June. You do not need to be
a Drama Club member to audition.
There is also a Drama Executive Board which meets
weekly throughout the school year and the summer.
This elected board of seven to nine Drama Club
members both organize and chair committees to
plan the fund raising year. The Fine Arts activity
fees apply to all Drama Club members involved
in any or all of the activities.
