    About Us...

The Lynnhurst Elementary School opened its doors in February of 1964. The school sits on a knoll on the corner of Elm and Walnut Streets , our home was once farmland. More than 275 students fill our classrooms. They are supported by 13 classroom teachers . Reading , Literacy , and Special Needs teachers as well as a counselor round out the staff . We are a K-5 inclusive school.

Once a neighborhood school , the PTO strives to keep that type of atmosphere alive with its activities. Parent volunteers are a vital part of the Lynnhurst. We also receive support from neighbors as well.
An Afterschool Program provides enrichment and remedial classes for our students. These classes are parent funded and have become a regular extension of our school day. Classes such as sports , cartooning, drawing, calligraphy , and sign language have been taught. The school has a small drama group which has presented Peter Pan and the Wizard of Oz in the past two years.

Monthly school meetings allow us to gather as students and educators and acknowledge what has happened in the school over the month. We make plans , deliver awards , and practice sign language. This is a vital part of our school.

The school has two newer classrooms located in a module unit. The fifth grade classes call this area home. This has added a new dimension to the school setting.

The curriculum taught here is aligned with the state frameworks and follows the recently completed Saugus Schools Curriculum Maps.
