NEWS - New England Theater Conference

The Saugus High School Drama Club recently attended the New England Theater Conference which was held this past week end in Natick. There was an Olympiad for Theater and many Saugus students participated in this adjudication event. Winning awards for acting were gold medalist Maggie Palermo and bronze medalist Nicolette Ford. Awards for dance were given to Lauren Meehan, Gold, Ally MacDonald, Silver, Caroline Orlando, bronze and Sarah MacDonald and Gabi Bono Honorable mention. Winning awards for musical theater were Ali Sarnacchiaro, gold and David Picariello, silver. Other drama club members attending the workshops were Delaney Barry, Kelsey Bartlett, Erin Bennett, Shaun Downey, Jackie Frangos, Leah Kaplan, Shelby Katis, Kayla McKinnon, Robert Moore, Roderigo Mendoza-Lee, Ryan Perry, Jillian Perry, Calvin Reach, Carli Sullivan and Caitlyn Williamson. This is the eighth consecutive year that Ms. Lemoine and the Drama Club have participated in this conference and they would like to thank the Superintendent, the School Board and the SHS Principal for their support and encouragement.



A Mid-Summer Night's Dream

The Saugus High School Drama Club recently performed William Shakespeare's "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream" in the Black Box Theater at Saugus High School. Featured in the roles of the lovers were Ally MacDonald as Helena, Erin Bennett as Hermia, David Picariello as Lysander and Rodrigo Mendoza -Lee as Demetrius. In the roles of the fairy King and Queen were Ryan Perry and Nicolette Ford. Senior Lauren Meehan played Puck. The other fairies were played by Sarah MacDonald, Olivia Chaves, Carli Sullivan, Leah Kaplan and Jillian Perry. The mechanicals were lead by David Woodward as Bottom, Jackie Frangos as Peter Quince, Jeff Mills as Flute, Caroline Orlando as Starvling the Tailor, Maggie Palermo as Tom Snout and Alexis Fafard as Snug the joiner. The production was directed by Nancy Lemoine with stage management and assistant directing by Shaun Downey. Costumes were by Gabi Bono, Ali Sarnacchiaro and Delaney Barry. Make-up design was by Jen Nou. Sarah Imperato designed and executed the sound. Allison and Thomas Stewart worked crew and Shelby Katis house managed. Pictured is the cast.
