What We Are
The Saugus Cultural Council (formerly known as the "Arts Lottery Council") works with the Massachusetts Cultural Council to allocate grant monies to projects that benefit the people of Saugus. These projects address the arts, science, and the humanities.
Persons or organizations who are interested in applying for grant money should call Belinda Fernandes (e-mail belinda@dreamsoftware.com) or log on to www.massculturalcouncil.org for applications and information. Applications for the following year's grants are due on October 15.
Who We Are
Council members are appointed by the Town for a 3-year term. This is an all-volunteer Council supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
The current Cultural Council members (effective through December 31, 2009) include:
- Belinda Fernandes, Chair
- Jeanne St. Cyr, Treasurer
- Sherri Raftery, Secretary
- Ruth Swanson
- Peter Bezemes
When We Meet
The Cultural Council usually has a public meeting once a year in November, generally in the Saugus Public Library. Usually it will be announced in the Saugus Community Event Calendar, but keep in mind that the location for Council meetings is not decided too far in advance.
